Commission on Disabilities explores NaviLens, reviews accessibility

BRAINTREE — Commission on Disabilities investigates navigation technology for residents with vision impairments. The Commission agreed to explore NaviLens, an international navigation system used by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, with estimated installation costs of $23,000 upfront and $600 monthly for 150 bus stops. The commission voted unanimously to task its Community Planning Subcommittee with reviewing the town's snow removal ordinance following recent accessibility failures, and also voted unanimously to draft an MBTA letter requesting a bus stop on Forbes Road, which houses disability services facilities.
ADA Coordinator Kristina Ziniti identified door-pressure compliance issues at four Dunkin Donuts locations during accessibility inspections, giving owners until month's end to correct violations.
