Committee advances Nathan Buliga hockey rink design with new consultant
Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of February 9, 2026
Braintree Community Preservation Committee advances Nathan Buliga hockey rink after prior setback. Director Peter Matchak reported that Edge Sports Group received $25,000 for prior design work but produced no usable result; Weston & Sampson will now lead design with input from Recreation, Department of Public Works, and Planning staff, working within existing Community Preservation Act appropriations. In separate business, the committee was briefed on plans to sell Liberty Grove's house with a historical restriction and reserve one buildable lot for potential Habitat for Humanity use.
Matchak announced the Community Preservation Manager position will be posted soon, currently part-time. Fire station upgrades are advancing with consultant Vertex, including roof replacement and electrical upgrades.
