Historical Commission to examine demolition delay ordinance

Braintree Historical Commission will examine potential changes to its demolition delay ordinance. Chair Kate Nedelman Herbst and Councilor Meredith Boericke committed to developing revised bylaw language to extend the current four-month delay period for structures at least 75 years old. The effort was prompted by resident Christian Vanderslice's concerns about the October 2024 demolition of a 1713 house at 60 Proctor Road; other towns, including Milton, permit delays of up to 24 months.
