BRAINTREE — Park board unanimously approves Clemson Leveler for expanding beaver dam near Liberty Street. The Weymouth-Braintree Regional Recreation-Conservation District Board of Commissioners authorized up to $1,200 to manage the pond now encroaching on a resident's property, choosing passive water-level management over trapping, removal, or dam destruction. Treasurer Corey Bowdre reported the district transferred $326,250 to the Army Corps of Engineers with $12,545 remaining from the Braintree appropriation.
The board also received updates on a planned fish ladder with the Army Corps of Engineers, determined to accommodate smelt and American eel rather than herring due to species-specific requirements for water depth and flow.
