Planning Board Approves Shake Shack Site Plan Modification

Planning Board · Meeting of February 10, 2026

BRAINTREE — Planning Board unanimously approves Shake Shack site plan modification at Union Street. Chairwoman Kimberly Kroha and the five board members voted 5-0 to reduce the 125 Union Street building from 4,251 to 3,416 square feet, a 35 percent reduction from the originally approved Chick-fil-A design. Parking will drop to 83 spaces from a requirement of 94, fitting within the 20-space variance already granted.

Torrington Properties, which has invested $14 million in acquisition and development of the once blighted site, has also completed over $1.2 million in offsite improvements including new traffic signals and pedestrian infrastructure.
