Planning Board backs site-review expansion for protected uses

Braintree Planning Board recommends zoning amendment expanding site plan review for protected uses. The board voted 5-0-0 to recommend that the Town Council adopt the amendment, which expands oversight of uses exempted under Massachusetts General Law Section 3, including schools, childcare facilities, accessory dwelling units, and energy facilities. Director Peter Matchak explained the amendment would allow the town to impose reasonable conditions on such developments to protect community health and welfare.
The board also approved a $2,000 bond release for a completed home at 42 Hayward Street and continued hearings on a two-family conversion and a major 752-unit residential development.
