Pond Meadow Park bridges get emergency repair funding
Pond Meadow Park Commission · Meeting of March 30, 2026
BRAINTREE — District board approves $15,000 emergency funding for Pond Meadow Park bridge repairs. The Weymouth-Braintree Regional Recreation-Conservation District Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Chair W. Flanagan's motion to allocate up to $15,000 for temporary repairs to two structurally failed walking bridges.
Supervisor B. Keefe presented a two-phase repair plan; Phase I, already completed, involved structural pipe insertion and surface refill, while Phase II, approved at the meeting, will install steel road plates and asphalt. Park Rangers first identified the bridges as structurally unsound in April 2024; the emergency session was called after a Weymouth resident reported a failure on March 17.
