Braintree Zoning Board approves two nonconforming-lot dwelling reconstructions. The board unanimously approved petitions from James Thorp (23 Venus Road) and Kenneth Nguyen (74 Davis Road) to demolish and reconstruct single-family dwellings, with Chair Rayna Rubin, Vice-Chair Jose E. Perez, and Member Tom Kleber each voting in favor.
The Davis Road property measures 20,000 square feet where 43,560 square feet is required under the Watershed Protection Overlay District. Public comments raised concerns about size, privacy, and drainage, but the board approved with conditions including drywells for stormwater management and privacy plantings. Both findings determined the proposed reconstructions are not substantially more detrimental to the neighborhood.
