Braintree Historical Commission approves Fire Department building exterior upgrades. The three-member commission voted unanimously on April 6 to amend a Certificate of Appropriateness for the department headquarters at 1 Union Place, approving installation of aluminum gutters with five-inch round downspouts in light bronze, a mahogany painted cornice system, and manufacturer-recommended snowguards. Director Peter Matchak of Planning and Community Development and Fire Chief Frederick Viola explained the work will proceed alongside the currently underway roof replacement, with the full project targeted for completion by summer 2026.
