Planning Board · Meeting of July 14, 2026

Braintree Planning Board continues Mento family's 10-townhome plan and a contested Ashworth Avenue drainage fix to August. Attorney Frank Marinelli said the Mento family's 1.7-acre Washington Street contractor's yard would become 10 owner-occupied townhome condominiums with "no variances required," cutting impervious surface 54 percent; the board voted 5-0 to continue for draft conditions on August 18. At 30 Ashworth Avenue, engineer Greg Driscoll proposed replacing an open detention basin with a modern chamber system, but residents Deborah Wench and Mike Distasio said a 2004 drainage system "has never worked," with Wench describing "three feet of water in the basement." The board also approved three as-built bond releases, including a $2,000 bond at 291-297 Washington Street, and endorsed a Trammell Crow-linked Approval Not Required plan for 10 Plain Street.

All contested items return to the board's August 18 meeting pending stormwater peer reviews.
