Planning Board · Meeting of June 9, 2026

Braintree Planning Board approves eight-unit apartment conversion, delays $40 million Honda dealership vote. The board voted 5-0 to approve a special permit converting a vacant office building at 75 Hancock Street into eight one-bedroom apartments for the Aiello family, with architect Patricia Fisher presenting whitewashed-brick and wood-accent exterior options the board favored as "Option 2." Separately, Attorney Frank Marinelli outlined a proposed $40 million, 169,562-square-foot Herb Chambers Honda dealership at 2 Adams Place for owner Asbury Auto Group, featuring 600 parking spaces and 39 service bays; the board continued that hearing to July 14. A grading-permit fight over an unpermitted retaining wall at 5 Vine Street also continued to July 14, with Member Robert Kane calling it "the third project... that has been done without a permit" this year, and neighbor Julie Alessi saying a revised design still leaves her visible "from the waist up." A fourth hearing, on 60 Columbian Street's Banner Park Campus, was continued without testimony.
