Commission approves $6,000 for South Braintree Square bike racks
Commission on Disabilities · Meeting of August 3, 2026
BRAINTREE — Commission backs $6,000 for South Braintree Square bike racks. Acting Chairperson Crystal Evans presented a phased approach to improve accessibility in the area, with Mayor Joyce's support. The commission approved $6,000 to purchase 10 surface-mounted bike racks, $500 for community meeting supplies, and authorized Evans to contact the town grant writer regarding funding processes.
The commission voted to send letters to BELD seeking sponsorship for bike racks and to Thayer Library inviting participation in an Autism Welcoming certification program. Additional votes authorized collaboration with Economic Development Director Catherine Rollins to promote the autism program to local businesses and requested a meeting with the Braintree July 4th Committee about sensory-friendly parade accommodations.
