Conservation Commission approves Middle Street test pit project with conditions

Conservation Commission · Meeting of April 2, 2026

Braintree Conservation Commission approves two projects with stormwater and vegetation conditions. The commission issued a negative determination of applicability for test pit work at 335 Middle Street, approving the project with conditions requiring composite swamp mats, arborist oversight, and vegetation replacement after abutters raised concerns about water flow during storms. Commission Chair William Schreefer clarified that test pits are necessary to determine ground water location and soil type for proper stormwater planning.

The commission also approved landscaping and deck work at 55 Birchcroft Road with stormwater and vegetation conditions, and continued the wetland-line delineation for 2 and 20 Garden Park to May 7.
